Court Stables – MUMOK Event Hall
Wien VII
2003
In the course of remodelling carried out to adopt the existing building for the Museum of Modern Art in 2002, it was necessary to create a multifunctional event hall. This was based on a design by Gerold Wiederin for the former court stables, which had been used until recently for storage. Challenges were posed by the technical requirements for multi-purpose events for up to 600 spectators and by the need to substantially improve the acoustics, which the geometry of the space made completely unsuitable for the planned use.
