Energy self-sufficient School

The High-School for Commerce’s 3.000m2 large roof needed to be restored. Following the school’s vision for energy self-sufficiency this window of opportunity had to be taken to adapt the roof for the mounting of photo-voltaic- and solar-panels. Although the primary structure of the school building from the 1970s has reached ist limits, the clever idea of using plastics sheeting in order to remove the gravel on the bitumen roof, and by this reduction of load gaining the difference needed for the mounting of the panels.
